VSR Week in Review – April 14-21

This week I never got started until late in the week and didn’t get to race as much as I wanted, however I got in the races I needed to keep my points up in the series’ I am participating in.
I started my race week off with my return to the WornOutRacers Friday Night League Race. This week we visited Gateway International Raceway with the ARCA Series cars. I was a little out of sorts in the beginning as I had never raced at Gateway and in practice I was pretty slow. Once race time came around it was a completely different story. In practice I was only ever around 1 or 2 cars but its was an all together felling being in the pack and catching a multiple car draft. I started 6th for the 100 lapper and hovered around 6th most of the race and made my way up to 3rd for a handle full of laps and fell back to 16th when I pitted for fuel and tires. I was able to race my way back up to 6th and everything fell apart on lap 97 when I got caught up in someone else’s wreck. I was able to limp it home to an 11th place finish. Over all I was happy with my performance and know I had a top 5 car. I do have to apologize to Frenchy. I had no clue that we had made contact which resulted in him hitting the wall ending his race. I didn’t know until I watched the replay. Absolutely my fault and I own it. I didn’t know he was on my outside.
This week we put 2 more wins in the win column claiming victories in the Asphalt Street Stocks at South Boston Speedway and in the DIRTcar Limited Late Models at Lanier National Speedway.
For next week I already know my racing schedule will be pretty limited as work is pretty busy and our real racing season opens this coming weekend.
